A DAY IN THE LIFE AT THE BEACH - THE SHIVONE FAMILY

I was lucky enough to spend the day with The Shivone family before the summer officially ended.  They are locals to the Rehoboth Beach and Lewes area and the beach is like their backyard playground.  In this modern day of busy schedules, where both parents are often working and juggling kid's routines, it's that real family time that is the most precious.  Documenting a family on one of these days is such a special treat for me as a photographer. 

Life moves fast, it's the small moments that we can forget as time moves along.  However, in the most important way, these small moments are the ones we try to hold on to.  Kids always bring a sense of pure presence that reminds us of our own childhood.  In the moments we spend with them, we become kids again ourselves and at times it can be true magic.

BALLET CLASS

My daughter is a ballet dancer.  She has been dancing for a few years now and I as I watch her growing passion for dance and ballet specifically I find myself photographing her more and more.  I love watching the form and grace of ballet.  What amazes me is the physical strength and dedication it takes to learn this style of dance, yet it seems so effortless when you watch a dancer move.  

I decided to bring my camera into the classroom recently and was glad I did.  Not only to document this special time in her life, but maybe to capture my own youth by playing witness.  I saw their mindful presence in each pose and their glittering eyes as they look to find their future selves.  Some as dancers or ballerinas, and some just dreaming of being big girls someday.  For me, I just embraced being reminded of childhood.
